With the amount of social media we now all have access to, we are never far from the latest fad diet, new super food, or next best thing for a longer, healthier life. There is so much information out there it is very easy to become confused, overwhelmed and not know what to do for the best.
I spend a lot of time reading these articles, watching the tv programs and I struggle to make sense of some of it, but what has both scared and indeed angered me, is the scare mongering that goes on. The snappy, WOW headlines that make you stop and think! How many posts have you read that have told you to stop drinking milk, stop eating carbs, stop eating meat, stop eating far, all with a whole host of reasons why you should?
I rarely read those posts or articles warning you off certain foods or food groups. If you have been following me for a while you will know that I whole heartedly believe that if you eat food that comes in its most natural form, you can’t go far wrong, (unless you have a diagnosed allergy to something). This comes from the studies that I have done and scientific evidence that backs it up.
By all means read everything, but into who has produced it.
Are they qualified?
Do they have an ulterior motive for saying theses things?
Who sponsored the study/report?
Is it even relevant to the country you are in?
They are many people out there posting latest fad things to do and diets that have worked for them. Whilst I do not refute what they have done or indeed do not want to question how true it is, you have to do what is right for you.
Just because you read it on social media, does not make it true, does not mean there has been years of scientific studies and tests to reach these conclusions. Don’t take what someone has put in writing as fact, be vigilant; who are they, where has their information has come from?
I post various articles on both my website and Facebook page about healthy eating and food. I have studied over the last 5 years and will only share with you the things that I know to be true based on science and guidelines produced by governing bodies. I continue studying today to ensure that I will have the most up to date information possible when talking to you guys.
Look after yourselves, your families and don’t just things for granted because some one wrote it!
